Welding Supervisor Position

Job purpose

This position supervises both Sheet Metal Welding and Structure Welding operation in accordance with the manufacturing process, following process sheets or standard operating procedures to meet the required output, quality and production schedule.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in welding and control the requisition supplies such as weld rod, gas, flux, jig, template and fixtures.
• Ensuring output quality and products complied with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations. Ensuring the cleanliness of workplace in accordance of  5’s  and  zero accidents occur in a workplace.
• Ensuring all welders carry out routine daily set up and maintenance job on their machine equipments/tools in order to achieve high availability. Follow the given maintenance check list.
• Providing on job training program to welders to ensure welders operate machine properly and provide them with SOP to run the welding machine and contact maintenance technicians when facing technical problems.
• Establishing a skill matrix for welders to identify their skill competencies. Quantify jobs to welders base upon their current skill levels and do not assigning jobs where by beyond their skill levels.
• Preparing OEE report, MASTER WIP update and attendance report. Mainly tackling and managing welder attendance and absenteeism.
• Responsible for implementing KAIZEN events and engaging employees who are continuously suggesting and implementing new ideas and cycle time improvements.
• Performing other duties as requested, directed and assigned.

Work experience and education requirements

• Minimum technical certification or 5 years experience in fabrication welding.
• Ability to interpret welding symbols, fabrication technical drawing and process sheet.
• Ability to read and comprehend measuring tape & caliper.
• Welding range from simple to complicated structure.
• Ability to rework, modify or fabricate parts.

Other requirements

• Flexibility to work additional hours beyond work schedule when needed.
• Able to drive fork lift
• Able to speak Malay and English.
